Principal’s Message:
Dear Huff Families,
Happy Thanksgiving! We know this year has been rough, but we see your strength and wish you all the best this Thanksgiving. Enjoy your break and hope to see everyone back on Monday (11/30).
Sincerely,
Arline Siam
Upcoming event
I hope you and your families are staying healthy and adjusting to the new normal. As you may know, there are several families in our district that need help to meet some basic needs and the holidays are a tough time. In previous years, Huff has held a holiday gift drive for these families. This year, due to the pandemic, the logistics are making it difficult to collect gifts. Instead, we would like to have a gift card drive so that families can choose what they need. If you are able, please consider donating a gift card to families in our own district to help make their holidays a little brighter. Thanks so much for your help! Let’s show these families some Huff Love!
Things to remember:
Gift cards should be electronic and for only the following stores (links are included):
1. https://www.giftcardmall.com/e-gift-cards/safeway-egift-card
2. https://www.target.com/p/embroidered-snowflake-target-giftcard/-/A-80215236?preselect=80113018#lnk=sametab
3. https://giftcards.walmart.com/ip/Floating-Spark-Walmart-eGift-Card/668655618
Electronic gift cards should be sent to our principal, Arline Siam at [email protected]
and she will send them on to the district office for distribution.
Families are welcome to donate more than 1 gift card. Each individual gift card should be no more than $20 to make it easier to split them up among many families.
If you have any questions, please contact Aishwarya Rengan at [email protected].

Distance Learning Toolkit: Increasing Focus Through a Sensory Lens
Thursday December 3, 7-8:30 PM
LAMV PTA Council and SELPA 1 CAC present this talk with Lisa Kaplan Shanaan, MS OTR/L TMHP
How do you stay engaged? How do you calm down when excited, or pep up when you are zoned out? You may know your own body and the tricks that work for you, but children are still working this out. It is especially difficult to learn self-regulation when involved in distance learning on screens for hours a day. Come learn from Lisa Kaplan Shaanan, an occupational therapist and trainer, who has been working with children birth thru 18 years old for more than 30 years. She will recommend tools and techniques useful to help all children discover their best ways to self-regulate and really learn and stay engaged during the Zoom school day.
