03/23/22 Imai Gazette

Principal’s Message:

Dear Imai Families,

Last week was a hard week for the Huff/Imai community with the loss of a former student.   As an educator nothing prepares you on how to talk to your staff about the loss of a child or how to comfort the community during such a difficult time. We were fortunate to have grief counselors on Friday and Monday to help us process the loss.  Please keep his family in your thoughts during this difficult time. During the walkathon, our collection box collected about $1600 which will be given to mom tomorrow at the end of the day. Thank you so much for your support!

We want to make sure our students are safe when riding their bike to school and we have updated our website with information about safe walking and biking routes to school. (Click Here-look under Huff)

State testing (CAASPP) in grades 3-5 is coming up shortly and since we have not tested in the last two years, it’s important that you try to attend the Principal’s Coffee this Friday to learn about what you can do at home to support your child, the schedule and to give you an opportunity to ask questions.  Principal’s Coffee on 03/25 at 8:30 AM

Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Sincerely,

 Arline Siam

Principal

Speaking respectfully about mask choices

As mask mandates change at MVWSD, it is important to respect the decisions of individuals and families as they choose to mask or not mask while outdoors at school (indoor masks are still required). Staff members will support students with respectful conversations on campus. We encourage you to talk with your children about your family’s choices, and about communicating empathy and understanding for others’ choices. For tips on how students can respectfully speak up and speak out, see this helpful infographic. We know our students will be upstanders and take care of each other!
