Principal’s Message:

 Dear Imai Families,

It’s amazing to see that the end of the school year arrived so quickly. I want to thank you all for the support and patience shown this school year. We had successes and some challenges, yet despite all, we continued the work that has to be done to ensure the safety and educational needs of our students.

After many years of service to Imai and to MVWSD, Mrs. Linda Lopez and Ms. Doreen Kalb will be retiring.  We will miss them and wish them the best in retirement!

We also wish a farewell to Ms. Valeria Goble (K-2 STEAM) and Ms. Jacklyn Diaz (3-5 STEAM).

Finally, I would like to thank our parent leaders on the PTA Executive Board, School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) as well as the  countless volunteers for your commitment to our school and support throughout the year.

Don’t forget to take part in our summer challenge. We can’t wait to see how many squares you color after completing the activities.

The campus will look slightly different when we get back in the fall.  As discussed at several of our Principal’s Coffees and in past Gazette’s, we will have some construction over the summer.  Parts of campus will be closed for part of the summer to remove the portables and to repave the blacktop. For more information, please see the MVWSD construction website.

Have a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,

 Arline Siam

Principal

Families of English Learners: Look for Summative ELPAC results in the mail

MVWSD has begun to receive scores for English Learner students who took the Summative ELPAC assessment this spring. Due to the nature of the assessment, scores will come in on a rolling basis and will be sent to families over the course of the summer. Families should also look for an email this summer detailing how to download the score reports on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Leticia Corcoran at [email protected]

 Supporting neighbors in need: CSA

Community Services Agency (CSA) provides safety-net services to the most vulnerable members of the Mountain View/Los Altos community. They offer emergency rental assistance, short-term hotel stays, car repairs, senior case management, a food pantry, and many other essential services. In order to support the community, CSA holds events like the upcoming Back-to-School Program on July 29 and 30, when parents and children from the Mountain View Whisman School District who are in need can get gift cards to buy school supplies for the 2022-23 school year. If you are interested in learning more about the Back-to-School Program and how you can help, click here. If you are in need of services, contact CSA at 650-968-0836.

MVEF: Additional ELA Teachers Next Year!

Due to increased support from our donors, MVEF met our stretch goal to raise an additional $300,000 to hire two additional English Language Arts teachers next year, one at each of the MVWSD middle schools. We are happy to announce that MVEF has committed the funds to the District so they can hire the ELA teachers. We are so grateful for the support we have received, and are looking forward to seeing the benefits of smaller class sizes to our students’ education next year!

Summer Reading at MV Public Library

Read, learn, and earn rewards with the Mountain View Public Library this summer! The summer reading program will run from June 4 to July 31, 2022 and is free for all. Register the whole family at mountainview.gov/summerreading.

Covid vaccines and testing locations

The Food and Drug Administration has authorized a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. To get a COVID vaccine for yourself or your child, see the county’s drop-in clinics here or schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider or pharmacy.

COVID testing remains an important tool to keep yourself and our community safe this summer. Schedule a COVID PCR test with your healthcare provider or at a county facility here. Additionally, every home in the U.S. is eligible to order a 3rd round of free at-home rapid tests if you have not already done so at covid.gov/tests.
