Imai Gazette 01/15/25

Principal’s Message:

Dear Imai Families,

We had 150 students earn prizes for turning in their Winter Reading Challenge. Yay! Thank you for encouraging your child to read every day and for instilling the love of reading.

This Friday at the Principal’s Coffee (01/17 8:30-9:30 AM) we will have Ms. Libuit do a recap of our last Parent U: Setting Boundaries with Technology. Come join us as we give you great strategies on the usage of technology for your child.

LA fires help, wildfire smoke procedures

Our hearts go out to all of the families, first responders and schools who are profoundly impacted by the devastating fires in Los Angeles. It’s hard to know how to help when there is so much need, but here is a list of ways our families could contribute. Our children also may be affected by the devastation they hear about in LA. Here are tips for parents from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network about talking to children when scary things happen.

If the smoke does drift into our area, MVWSD will enact its plans to keep students and staff safe. Please see https://www.mvwsd.org/airquality for how we track air quality, what instrument we use and why, and what happens when the air is bad.

Lunar New Year is at the end of this month and we have scheduled two assemblies  (2/3/25 12:45 and 1:30PM) to celebrate. We are looking for parent volunteers to come share how they celebrate the Lunar New Year with their families so please email me if you are interested in participating.

Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Arline Siam

Principal
